What the calculators do
The calculators for the United States, United Kingdom and Canada ask for your location, home details and the upgrades you are considering. They then estimate incentives and bill savings using typical cost and saving ranges, and show which programs have ended so you do not count on them.
Where the information comes from
Program rules come from official government and program sources, such as the IRS and US Department of Energy, GOV.UK and Ofgem, and Natural Resources Canada and provincial programs. Each guide names the organizations its information is based on, so you can look up the original rules yourself.
Assumptions and limits
- Results are estimates. Your installer quotes, energy prices, climate, home condition and income will change the real numbers.
- Incentive programs change often. Some are state-, province- or utility-specific and may be paused, waitlisted or closed when you read this.
- Ended programs are labelled as ended and are not added to totals.
- We do not know your tax situation. Tax credits depend on your own circumstances.
How we keep pages current
Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. We review pages when major programs change and correct errors when readers report them. If something looks wrong, contact us and we will check it against the official source.
